Chapter 7 - Ryan’s First Story

Ryan told police I was not imprisoned.
He said attic was my choice.
He said lock prevented sleepwalking during medication.
He said videos were consensual performance.
He said Margaret assisted with medically approved feeding.
He said I had suffered a “pregnancy-related mental-health collapse.”
He said the secret phone proved I was deceptive.
That last one almost impressed me.
His lawyer tried to transform my evidence into proof I planned to destroy him.
Then investigators asked one simple question:
“If Emily voluntarily lived in attic, why did door lock from outside?”
Ryan:
“Safety.”
“Why no lock inside?”
“Old house.”
“Why did she not have her main phone?”
“She lost it.”
Police found my main phone in Ryan’s locked desk.
Powered off.
My last incoming messages months earlier had continued until he disabled it.
He claimed he found it later and forgot.
Then:
“Why did you force consent introductions?”
“I didn’t.”
Hidden phone audio:
RYAN:
Say it.
ME:
No.
RYAN:
Say it’s staged or you don’t get anything tonight.
MARGARET:
Stop wasting time.
Then me:
“This content is staged. I consent to filming.”
Ryan’s story changed.
He said it was “performance direction.”
Then:
“Why does she whisper dates before separate hidden recordings?”
No answer.
The strongest evidence was not my crying.
It was their ordinary speech when they believed nobody outside could hear.
People reveal systems in boring sentences.
Margaret:
Lock her after you go down.
Ryan:
Did you charge her phone?
Margaret:
She doesn’t need one.
Ryan:
Subscriber wants another feeding clip.
Margaret:
Then he pays more.
No monologue.
No confession.
May you like
Just routine.
That made it worse.
