Chapter 23 - My Career After the Investigation

Westbridge formally cleared me six months after audit.
Not because sympathy.
Because evidence.
Audit committee issued finding:
No evidence Valeria knowingly approved shell vendors, received illicit proceeds, or participated in concealment.
One credential compromise attributed to unauthorized use from household device.
My promotion remained.
I returned fully to Director of Strategic Planning.
First months were uncomfortable.
Some colleagues apologized for avoiding me.
I told them:
“I understand.”
Some did not apologize.
Fine.
Trust at work is not family.
People protect themselves.
I rebuilt.
Three years later I became Vice President of Planning and Portfolio Strategy after normal competitive process.
Not because scandal.
Because performance.
I declined public interviews about case.
Westbridge communications asked once if I would participate in internal ethics training video.
“No.”
They accepted.
My pain was not corporate content.

I did contribute anonymously to policy revisions about related-party vendor verification and secondary approval.
That was enough.
