Chapter 9 - Arrested for Attempted Murder
Julian was arrested that afternoon.
The initial charging complaint included attempted murder.
That became the headline everyone repeated.
But being charged and being convicted are different things.
The state alleged:
He intentionally shoved a visibly pregnant woman into a boiling pot after threatening she would not leave kitchen with house.
He delayed aid.
Destroyed camera.
Coordinated false accident story.
Attempted to use her property for debt.
The defense said:
He intended to frighten, not kill.
The pot spill was not planned.
His threat referred to deed, not life.
He panicked afterward.
Those issues would later go to jury.
Other charges were stronger:
Aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
Assault/endangerment involving pregnant spouse.
Coercion.
Attempted property/financial fraud.
Evidence tampering.
Obstruction.
Julian was held without bond initially pending dangerousness hearing.
Weeks later, judge set high secured bond with GPS, passport surrender, strict no contact, and prohibition on entering my property.
Evelyn was not arrested immediately.
Her attorney fought.
But cloud footage, messages, wiping pot, taking phone, and post incident coordination supported charges.
Two weeks later she was arrested for conspiracy related to coercion, complicity in aggravated assault, evidence tampering, obstruction, and witness intimidation.
Not attempted murder.
Prosecutors said evidence did not yet establish she agreed to killing.
That distinction mattered.
Evelyn posted bond.
She moved into sister’s home.
No contact with me.
