Chapter 15 - Julian’s New Story
By trial preparation, Julian had abandoned “she slipped.”
Video made impossible.
New story:
I jerked away.
He reached.
Contact happened.
I collided with stove accidentally.
The shove was an instinctive movement during argument.
He did not know pot would spill.
His threat meant I would not leave kitchen with ownership issue unresolved, not that I would be injured.
He destroyed visible camera because he panicked.
He called 911.
He followed dispatcher instructions.
He remained at hospital.
Those facts were true.
Defense also argued:
No evidence Julian wanted Emma dead.
No weapon.
No repeated blows.
No attempt to prevent ambulance indefinitely.
No explicit murder threat.
Therefore attempted murder too far.
Prosecutors agreed that was jury question.
They focused stronger counts.
Sarah warned:
“Do not measure justice by attempted murder verdict.”
“I know.”
“Do you?”
