Ryan challenged Lucy’s surname.
He wanted Hart only.
I had registered Hart.
So no issue.
Wait we named Lucy Ruth Hart. Good.
Then he wanted paternity test.
Why?
His attorney may advise because custody? Ryan did not suspect. Could be unnecessary. Avoid.
Then divorce.
Ryan counterclaimed.
He alleged:
I dissipated marital assets by paying attorneys? No.
He alleged I removed $42,000 from joint savings after leaving.

Yes, I transferred half of joint liquid savings ($38k) into separate account on attorney advice to preserve access, leaving rest. Need realistic. I did not empty.
He claimed theft.

I disclosed.
Then he demanded marital share of Bryden appreciation.
Maybe renovation contributions.
Forensic appraisal.

Renovations $90k funded partly rents, partly $37k marital funds.

Ryan could claim credit for marital funds and perhaps active appreciation if labor contributed.

Why give him anything after abuse?
Because property law is not revenge.

Then Carol called Laura wanting to testify for Ryan.

Carol replied:

No.
But phrase.
She cried.

Then she sent me apology:
I told him to save his family when I should have told him his wife was allowed to leave.
That was honest.
I did not respond.
Then criminal pretrial.

Misdemeanor? Prosecutor wanted felony due repeated abuse and pregnancy. He refused.
Trial would ask a jury to listen to nights I had spent pretending never happened.
I dreaded.
