Chapter 9 - Vanessa’s Story

Vanessa’s cooperation was not noble.

She was afraid.

Her company was under investigation.

Her financing letters were false.

Her email accounts contained messages.

She faced fraud exposure and potential charges related to conspiracy.

She wanted a deal.

Prosecutors listened.

According to Vanessa:

The affair began two years earlier.

Julian told her marriage was “functionally over.”

He said I stayed for Penny.

Common.

Vanessa believed him.

Then she learned about Hart trust.

She suggested refinancing Blackwood estate.

At first, legitimate.

Use new lender.

Repurchase property.

Julian said Hart clause blocked using my assets.

Vanessa proposed I voluntarily guarantee.

Julian laughed.

“She’ll never sign.”

Then they began building pressure.

Paternity? No, not in user prompt. Could use custody/reputation.

They fed stories to Blackwood relatives that I was emotionally unstable.

Vanessa borrowed jewelry from Julian? He took earrings from my case.

That was theft by Julian, not Vanessa initially.

He gave them to Vanessa specifically to provoke me at holiday dinner.

Her words:

“He said if Evelyn confronted me publicly, we would have witnesses she was jealous and unstable.”

There.

Planned confrontation.

What about belt?

Vanessa claimed no.

“He was supposed to humiliate her, not hit her.”

Messages partly supported.

Vanessa:

Make her apologize in front of everyone.

Julian:

She won’t.

Vanessa:

Then send her downstairs until she does.

Julian:

That would be funny.

That message was two days before.

Basement confinement planned.

Violence?

A message from Julian:

Maybe she needs old school correction.

Vanessa responded with laughing emoji.

Bad.

Not explicit thirty strikes.

But enough to show awareness of punitive intent.

Vanessa also admitted stealing a copy of my signature from foundation documents.

She assembled guarantee template.

Julian knew.

Who created forged bank package?

Both.

Who invented personal guarantee?

Vanessa.

Who signed electronically?

Julian uploaded.

That created distinct liability.

She also admitted encouraging him to use Penny’s custody as leverage.

But she denied ever wanting Penny harmed.

I believed she did not care enough to think.

That is not same as intent.

Her cooperation included the original diamond earrings arrangement.

Then she said something prosecutors had not known.

“There was supposed to be another paper in the basement.”

“What paper?”

A marital asset acknowledgment.

If I apologized and agreed to “family reconciliation,” Julian planned to have me sign an agreement the next morning while still frightened.

Not in basement itself.

At breakfast.

It would state I acknowledged his management authority over Blackwood property negotiations.

Would it legally transfer trust rights?

No.

But bank might use as supporting evidence until challenged.

The entire assault was supposed to produce a scared wife who signed.

Instead, I called Damian.

Vanessa said:

“Julian always said she’d never call her brother.”

That assumption broke everything.

Then:

“Why?”

“Because he said Damian thought Evelyn was weak for leaving finance.”

I almost laughed.

Damian had begged me to leave Asterion before burnout killed me.

Julian had invented estrangement.

For Vanessa.

For himself.

Maybe because admitting I had powerful, loving family made isolating me harder.

Prosecutors offered Vanessa cooperation terms later.

Not immunity.

She would plead to fraud conspiracy, forgery-related conduct, and false financial representations; cooperate against Julian; assault-related participation? She did not strike me, but she helped plan confinement perhaps. Could face conspiracy/unlawful restraint. We'll handle plea later.

I did not get to approve.

May you like

Good.

Justice was not mine to negotiate.
