Lily did not sit feet from Claire.
A prior forensic interview was admitted for some statements under applicable rules, and when limited live testimony was required, protective arrangements reduced trauma.
She answered simply.
“Did Claire tell you Daddy wanted you at Willow Creek?”
“Yes.”
“Did Daddy ever tell you that?”
“No.”
“Did Claire hit you?”
“Yes.”
“How many times?”
She paused.
“Face once.”
Good.
No exaggeration.
“What else?”
“Grabbed.”
Defense asked:
“Did Claire help you after surgery?”
“Yes.”
“Cook?”
“Yes.”
“Help bathe?”
“Yes.”
“Take you to appointments?”
“Yes.”
“Did you sometimes get angry with Claire?”
“Yes.”
“Did you spill soup?”
“Yes.”
“Did Claire apologize?”
