Chapter 14 - My Guilt
I began therapy because Megan threatened to stop answering calls if I kept saying:
“I should have known.”
Dr. Evan Brooks asked:
“What evidence did you have before surgery?”
“Claire yelled.”
“Anything else?”
“Lily was quieter.”
“She had brain tumor.”
“Yes.”
“Claire complained about caregiving.”
“Normal.”
“Did Lily tell you she was being hit?”
“No.”
“Did you see injury?”
“No.”
“Then what exactly should you have known?”
I hated question.
“Something.”
He nodded.
“Because now you know.”
“Yes.”
“That is hindsight.”
“But she told me she hated when I went to work.”
“You interpreted as illness anxiety.”
“Yes.”
“Reasonable?”
“Yes.”
“Could you have asked more?”
“Yes.”
Both.
That became theme.
I missed things.
