Chapter 12 - Divorce Papers

I filed for divorce three weeks after slap.
People told me that was fast.
It did not feel fast.
It felt late.
Claire requested temporary maintenance and share of marital assets.
Fair.
Abuse does not erase property law.
Illinois equitable distribution would separate marital and nonmarital interests.
House purchased during marriage?
Actually could be marital. Let's say I owned before marrying Claire? That simplifies. The Naperville house purchased with Anna two years before she died, then remained mine as premarital to Claire, though mortgage payments during marriage could create marital contribution claims.
Claire had financial interest in some appreciation and joint accounts.
Rachel did not let me use Lily’s injury to take lawful property.
Good.
We divided later.
No children together.
Claire had no legal parental status over Lily.

No custody right.
She attempted requesting visitation as psychological parent? After four years step-parenting, Illinois step-parent visitation limited and usually parent death/incapacity etc. With me fit and opposing, she had little basis. She did not pursue after counsel advice.
