The Willow Creek application was not only false document.
Investigators found a second.
A temporary caregiver reimbursement request to Lily’s trust.
Amount:
$14,400.
Purpose:
Six weeks of specialized in-home neuro-rehabilitation supervision provided by Claire Hale.
Was Claire allowed caregiver compensation?
Potentially.
Trust permitted reasonable reimbursement for extraordinary care if approved.
But she needed:
Physician plan.
Hours.
Daniel’s authorization.
Trustee approval.
The request carried my electronic signature.
Again.
I had not signed.
No money had been released because trustee requested more documentation.
Claire’s attorney later argued she believed Daniel had verbally authorized.
I remembered saying:
“The trust should probably help cover what you’re giving up.”
I had said that.
Once.
After she canceled two freelance clients.
Did that authorize $14,400?
No.
Did it make her claim she thought so more plausible?
Maybe.
That was hard.
