Chapter 21 - The Survivor Trust Was Never the Point

By middle age, Noah had more money from his own work than trust ever held.

Software career went well, not billionaire.

Comfortable.

The $347k trust that once loomed huge became one part of life.

Linda had nearly distorted family around money she could never own.

That irony.

At forty-five, Noah told Lucy:

“Your grandparents left money to help me because they died when I was little.”

She asked:

“Was Claire paid to raise you?”

“No.”

“Should she have been?”

We laughed.

Legally trust could reimburse support.

I had used some for therapy/camp/college.

Not personal wages.

Would it have been wrong to take reasonable guardian compensation if allowed?

Not necessarily.

This mattered.

Money itself not corrupt.

Secrecy/coercion are.

Then Noah wrote me check? No need.

He insisted taking me and Evan to Alaska trip.

“Trust repayment?”

“No.”

“Then?”

“Vacation.”

Good.

No debts between love.

Then Evan died in his seventies? Could happen later. Let's say at seventy-two from ordinary stroke. Claire perhaps 67. Noah 51. He mourned.

No mystery.

No tie.

No need yet perhaps chapter 23.
