Chapter 19 - Noah’s Second Cast

At forty-two, Noah broke his wrist skiing.

He sent photo:

Bright blue cast.

Caption:

Apparently I have a brand.

I laughed until tears.

Then remembered.

Called.

“You okay?”

“Yes.”

“Can feel fingers?”

He groaned.

“Mom.”

“I’m sister.”

“Worse.”

Grace in background:

“He’s fine.”

Then I asked:

“Need anything?”

“No.”

Good.

Two weeks later he visited.

Cast signed by Lucy.

Blue.

I touched.

“Too tight?”

He raised eyebrow.

“I will throw you out.”

We laughed.

Then he said:

“Funny thing.”

“What?”

“When they put it on, I remembered Linda. But not scared.”

“What did you feel?”

“Annoyed.”

Then:

“I told nurse history and she checked extra carefully.”

Good.

He advocated.

No silence.

Then he said:

“I think that's difference.”

“What?”

“She taught me pain made me liar. You taught me I can say what I feel and let professionals decide.”

That was perhaps best sentence.

Then:

“Did I?”

“Mostly. You also asked too many questions.”

Fair.

Then cast removed.

May you like

No issue.

Blue again survived symbol.
