Chapter 17 - The Insurance Companies Decide

The insurers conducted their own reviews.
Policy one:
Beneficiary change from me to Damian was invalidated after evidence showed verification went to an email not controlled by Chloe and authorization could not be established satisfactorily.
The policy reverted according to insurer process and Chloe later changed beneficiary to a trust she selected.
Policy two:
Remained valid as insurance, but Chloe changed beneficiary after separation because she owned policy.
No fraud payout had occurred.
Application inaccuracies corrected.
Policy three:
Business-owned key-person policy was rescinded by insurer after determining material misrepresentations about Chloe’s compensation and role, with premiums adjusted/refunded according to contract and law.
No murder charge.
No sinister payout.
Just financial misrepresentation.
I was relieved.
Then ashamed I had imagined worse.
Susan said:
“Fear fills gaps with worst-case explanations.”

She was right.
Damian had done enough without becoming a killer.
