The final legal retention period ended when Lily was seventeen.
Maya emailed:
Original garage video could be archived permanently or destroyed after confirming no pending matters.
Criminal cases closed.
Appeals exhausted.
Probation complete.
Custody stable.
Financial settlement final.
No civil claims.
I asked Lily.
She was old enough.
“Do you want video kept?”
She stared.
“Do I ever need prove?”
“No.”
“Is there official record?”
“Yes.”
“Then delete personal copies.”
We kept required court/police archive outside our control.
Deleted mine.
Not erased history.
Stopped carrying it in pocket.
Lily watched file disappear.
No ceremony.
Then:
“Can we order pizza?”

“Yes.”
Normality won quietly.
