Maren earned barely enough for rent and food.

The correction did not spread as quickly as the lie.
Then Sloane’s original gala video appeared online.
It had not been released by police.
Someone uploaded the complete unedited file from a hidden backup.
The world watched Chloe force Maren to the floor.

After Maren whispered that Damien was supposed to be dead, Sloane’s camera turned briefly toward the upper balcony.
Vincent Hale stood above the ballroom.
