Chapter 10 - The Account That Was Still Moving

Elena was taken into the delivery room while Naomi, Daniel, Lucas, and federal investigators tried to stop the Northstar transfer.

Aurelia remained connected through the secure video.

“My sister disappeared thirty three years ago,” she said. “I believed Margaret killed her.”

Lucas placed the old photograph beside the footage from the private bank.

The silver haired woman who completed the second identity check resembled Aurelia, but subtle differences became visible when the images were enlarged.

The bank visitor carried herself more rigidly.

The scar on her face curved in the opposite direction.

Elena had recognized the scar because she had been shown a reflection.

The woman at the bank was not Aurelia.

It was Marina.

“Why would your sister help Margaret?” Daniel asked.

Aurelia looked toward the transfer map.

“Because Marina believed the company should have belonged to both of us.”

Aurelia had created the shipping systems and negotiated the founding ownership with Richard. Marina handled cash collections during the company’s first year but left after Richard refused to recognize her as an equal partner.

Margaret found her resentment useful.

Together, they created the false accounts that made Aurelia appear guilty.

Marina helped steal her own sister’s company.

“Where has she been?” Naomi asked.

“I do not know.”

Lucas looked toward the hospital door.

“I do.”

Everyone turned.

He unlocked one final hidden folder from his phone.

The videos showed Margaret speaking privately with a woman called Mrs. Voss, the house manager who had worked at the mansion since Daniel was a child.

Mrs. Voss avoided family photographs, wore high collars, and never entered rooms when visitors carried cameras.

She had resigned the morning Daniel left for Singapore.

A still image captured her without glasses.

She had Aurelia’s face.

Marina Vale had lived inside the Whitmore mansion for almost thirty years.

She raised Daniel and Lucas beside Margaret.

She watched Richard create the restitution trust.

She knew every password, hidden account, and family weakness.

Daniel remembered Mrs. Voss preparing his father’s medication on the night he died.

“She helped kill him.”

Aurelia’s voice became cold.

“She helped Margaret kill everyone who could restore my ownership.”

Lucas stepped backward.

“She was kind to me.”

“No,” Daniel said. “She made you useful.”

The same truth applied to Lucas, Margaret, and every person pulled into the scheme.

Federal technicians tried to freeze Marina’s receiving company.

The funds had already passed through four countries.

One hundred and eighty million dollars disappeared beyond immediate reach.

Thirty two million remained inside Northstar.

The baby’s heartbeat changed.

Daniel abandoned the screens and entered the delivery room.

Elena gripped his hand as another contraction tore through her.

“I do not want them near him.”

“They will never touch him.”

“You cannot promise that.”

“No.”

Daniel looked directly at her.

“But I can promise I will never hide danger from you again.”

Elena studied his face.

Then she tightened her hand around his.

Their son was born twelve minutes later.

His first cry filled the room.

At the exact moment the nurse placed him against Elena’s chest, every monitor connected to the Vale trust activated.

AURELIA VALE SUCCESSION CONDITION COMPLETED.

Elena became the controlling shareholder of Whitmore Holdings.

Margaret and Lucas lost all company authority.

The mansion, the primary accounts, and fifty one percent of the voting shares transferred into Elena’s name.

For several seconds, everyone believed it was over.

Then Naomi entered carrying a tablet.

“The remaining Northstar funds are moving again.”

Aurelia appeared on the screen.

“I am not authorizing anything.”

Elena held her newborn son closer.

“Who is?”

Naomi turned the tablet.

The transaction carried Daniel’s biometric approval.

He stared at it.

“I did not sign.”

The system displayed a live camera from a private airfield.

Marina Vale walked toward a jet carrying the original stock certificates from the silver basin.

Margaret Whitmore followed beside her.

The federal transport that supposedly carried Margaret from the mansion had been found empty.

They had escaped together.

Lucas looked at the flight number.

“That jet belongs to Dad’s old holding company.”

Aurelia leaned toward her screen.

“Richard dissolved that company before he died.”

Naomi opened the passenger authorization.

Three names appeared.

Marina Vale.

Margaret Whitmore.

Richard Whitmore.

Daniel’s father had been added to the flight less than an hour earlier.

A live image appeared from inside the aircraft.

An elderly man sat beside the window with an oxygen tube beneath his nose.

His hair was white.

His face was thinner than Daniel remembered.

But the eyes were Richard’s.

Daniel stopped breathing.

“My father was cremated.”

The man looked directly toward the aircraft camera.

Then his voice came through the hospital tablet.

“Daniel, do not allow Aurelia to control the trust.”

Aurelia went pale.

Richard continued.

“Margaret did not begin the theft.”

He turned toward Marina.

“The Vale sisters did.”

The transmission ended.

The jet began moving toward the runway.

Elena looked from Aurelia’s face to the account losing millions every second.

Her mother whispered through the speaker.

“That is not Richard.”

Daniel watched the aircraft accelerate.

“Then who is it?”

A new trust document appeared automatically.

It had been hidden beneath Richard’s digital authority.

The document named a fourth founder of Whitmore Vale Transport.

Someone whose ownership exceeded Aurelia’s.

Someone whose shares had never been included in the restitution trust.

The founder’s name was Elena Vale.

The birth date belonged to a woman who would now be sixty four years old.

Elena looked down at the newborn in her arms.

“That is my name.”

Aurelia began crying.

“No.”

“What aren’t you telling me?”

Before Aurelia could answer, a nurse entered carrying an envelope found inside the baby’s hospital bassinet.

No one had seen who placed it there.

Daniel opened it.

Inside was a recent photograph of Marina, Margaret, Richard, and a fourth woman standing outside the Whitmore mansion.

The fourth woman looked exactly like Elena.

On the back, someone had written:

Your wife was named after the woman who truly owns everything.

The hospital lights went out.

When emergency power returned, Aurelia’s video connection was gone.

So was Lucas.

The final thirty two million dollars had stopped moving.

The account now displayed a single message.

WAITING FOR ELENA VALE TO CLAIM OWNERSHIP.

Daniel turned toward his wife.

Elena held their son close as footsteps approached outside the locked delivery room.

A woman spoke to the security guards.

“My name is Elena Vale.”

She paused.

May you like

“I came to collect my company and my granddaughter.”

Continue to the next part: Daniel must determine whether the woman outside the delivery room is the forgotten founder, Marina’s final accomplice, or the person who ordered every betrayal from the beginning.
