Howard Venn cooperated after arrest.
His story mattered because I did not want every antagonist enlarged into mastermind.
Venn knew mineral deals.
He knew title.
He knew enough to recognize warning signs.
He did not know about highway assault when he first advised Grant.
At least prosecutors found no evidence.
His early email:
If Eleanor wants family transfer, get clean authority.
Reasonable.
Then later:
Need confirmation your mother voluntarily transferred.
Celia:
Voluntary enough.
Venn:
What does that mean?
Grant:
She won’t be a problem.
Venn should have stopped.
He did not.
Because five million option deposit meant a potential five hundred thousand dollar success fee.
After news of my disappearance and survival, he still continued.
That changed him from careless to knowingly fraudulent.
One email later:
Venn:
If Eleanor contests, buyer walks.
Celia:
She won’t be around long enough to contest.
Celia later said she meant I would be placed in nursing care.
Maybe.

Venn eventually pleaded guilty to federal fraud conspiracy and false-document related conduct at lower level.
He forfeited fees.
Lost licenses/industry standing.
Received twenty eight months federal incarceration and supervision.
His cooperation produced emails and draft agreements.
No secret connection to mining corporation.
No cartel.
