Daniel retired from Bennett Development at fifty-eight.
Earlier than expected.
He said:
“I want to leave before I start believing company needs me.”

Outside CEO replaced him.
Family ownership diversified.
Lily had small beneficial interest but no governance burden.
Ethan too.
No sibling competition.
Daniel and Vanessa stood together at retirement dinner.
She gave speech.
“I spent years thinking Daniel was stealing the future I deserved.”
Daniel looked emotional.
Vanessa continued.
“Turns out future was not a chair.”
