Meridian Systems succeeded without Julian.
That was one of his hardest consequences.
The product he founded grew.
Samantha Reed took it public? Maybe too big. Keep private but acquired? Perhaps independent. Let's say it grew steadily and later employee ownership expanded.
Julian retained some shares after legal obligations, but his voting rights were restricted per governance agreements and he no longer held executive role.
He once told me:
“I thought if I lost the company, I’d be nothing.”
“What are you now?”
He looked toward Elise drawing at visitation center.
“Trying to be her dad.”
Better answer than old Julian.
He eventually sold most remaining shares to pay restitution, legal costs, and rebuild life.
He took a job at a smaller software company after supervision permitted.
Not CEO.
Product manager.
Ordinary salary relative to before.
He hated it.
