Chapter 22 - Amanda’s Children

Cole was twenty when he told Amanda about that Thanksgiving from his side.

We were all at Mom’s condo.

He said:

“I knew Noah’s room got switched.”

Everyone quiet.

Amanda:

“What?”

“I heard Grandma tell you.”

Amanda looked ashamed.

“Why didn’t you say?”

“I liked suite.”

There it was.

A child benefited.

Of course.

Then:

“I thought Noah was spoiled for leaving.”

Noah, eighteen then, shrugged.

“I thought you were jerk.”

Cole laughed.

“Fair.”

Then Madison said:

“I remember Mom laughing.”

Amanda closed eyes.

“Thank you.”

Madison:

“You’re better now.”

Children keep records too.

Then Cole:

“I think adults assume kids don’t notice who gets what.”

We all noticed.

That became family lesson more lasting than money.

Then Amanda apologized to her children too.

“For teaching you comfort was something you deserved more because I demanded louder.”

Noah rolled eyes:

“That sounds therapist.”

Amanda:

“I pay a lot for therapist.”

May you like

We laughed.

Humor again.
