Daniel served eight years and nine months across coordinated sentences after credits and programming.
Released at forty four.
Supervised release three years.
He moved to Atlanta as planned.
No direct contact.
Restitution not fully paid at release.
Remaining ~$260,000 after forfeiture, insurance, his asset liquidation.
He paid through wages/trust distributions until satisfied at forty eight.
Then supervised release ended.
I received formal notice because victim registration.
Sarah asked:
“Want safety review?”
“Yes.”
Not fear shame.
We updated.
No indication threat.
Daniel had no disciplinary violence in prison, completed intervention programs, worked.
Still.
Then one day unknown number.
I did not answer.
Voicemail:
“Ms. Hart, this is Jonathan Mills, Daniel Cross’s therapist. I have written consent and am not asking you to engage. He wants to know if you would accept one final written accountability statement. You may decline.”
I declined.
I already had one.
No more.
Daniel respected.
Years later I saw article:
Former Cross heir takes operations role at regional logistics firm.
No photo maybe.
I felt nothing for ten seconds.
