Chapter 20 - Margaret Gets Older
Margaret was eighty when she needed help.
Arthritis.
Minor stroke.
Driving became difficult.

“I trust you.”

No power concentration.
Margaret laughed bitterly:
“You think I’m going to forge something at eighty?”
“No.”
“This is punishment?”
“No. It’s healthy.”
Then she agreed.

“Did Miles ruin me?”
“No.”
She nodded.
“I did things.”
“Yes.”
Then:
“Did you ruin me by turning me in?”
“No.”
She smiled.
“You’re annoyingly consistent.”
Financial-fraud investigator.
Then she died at eighty-three from complications after stroke.
No hidden letter needed.
But she had estate.
