Chap 1

The Harrington Estate glittered beneath thousands of crystal lights.
Luxury cars stretched for nearly half a mile outside the mansion.
Politicians.
Billionaires.
Celebrities.
International investors.
Everyone who mattered had gathered for the Harrington Foundation's annual gala.
Champagne flowed freely.
A string quartet performed beneath towering chandeliers.
Journalists waited outside, hoping to photograph the city's wealthiest families.
To every guest in attendance...
Andrew Harrington looked like the perfect success story.
Tall.
Handsome.
Impeccably dressed in a tailored black tuxedo.
Standing proudly beside his elegant mother, Eleanor Harrington, in a striking crimson evening gown.
Together, they welcomed guests with polished smiles.
No one noticed the young woman quietly standing several steps behind them.
Her black blazer concealed bruises across her shoulders.
A dark purple mark surrounded her left eye.
Dried blood stained her trembling hands.
She clutched a worn brown leather bag—the only thing she still owned inside the mansion.
Her name was Elena Veselova.
To everyone there...
She was merely Andrew's quiet, insignificant wife.
No one knew she had deliberately hidden the truth about who she really was.
Three years earlier, Elena had fallen in love with Andrew while studying abroad.
She had never told him her last name carried one of Europe's oldest family fortunes.
She wanted someone to love her...
Not her inheritance.
For a while...
Andrew did.
Or at least she believed he did.
Everything changed after the wedding.
His kindness slowly disappeared.
The compliments became insults.
The arguments became threats.
The threats became violence.
Each bruise arrived with the same promise.
"Don't make me angry."
Every time Elena considered leaving...
Andrew apologized.
Flowers.
Jewelry.
Expensive vacations.
Then another beating.
It became a cycle she desperately wanted to believe would end.
It never did.
Worse still...
Eleanor encouraged every moment of it.
"A wife who talks back deserves discipline," she often said.
Elena endured everything in silence.
Not because she was weak.
Because she was waiting.
Waiting for one particular date.
Tonight.
The third anniversary of their marriage.
The date a confidential legal clause would automatically expire.
A clause written by her father long before the wedding.
A clause Andrew had never bothered to read.
Inside the ballroom, the orchestra finished its final piece.
Andrew raised a champagne glass.
"Ladies and gentlemen..."
"Before tonight's charity auction..."
"I have one small family matter to resolve."
Guests laughed politely.
Andrew turned toward Elena.
His smile vanished.
"So..."
"You've finally decided to embarrass me again."
Elena remained silent.
Andrew threw a folder onto the marble steps.
Divorce papers.
"I've had enough."
"My lawyers prepared everything."
"You'll leave tonight..."
"...with nothing."
Eleanor folded her arms proudly.
"You should feel grateful."
"We're letting you walk away."
Several guests watched with awkward smiles.
Others pretended not to notice.
No one intervened.
Andrew stepped closer until they were only inches apart.
His voice echoed across the entrance hall.
"Get on your knees..."
"...and get out."
Silence.
Elena looked at the bruises on her own hands.
Then slowly lifted her eyes.
There were no tears.
No fear.
Only calm.
She picked up her leather bag.
Turned toward the gates.
Then stopped.
Without looking back, she said quietly,
"Remember that sentence, Andrew."
He smirked.
"Oh?"
She finally turned to face him.
"Because you're going to hear it again."
A faint smile crossed her lips.
One Andrew had never seen before.
Confident.
Certain.
Almost... dangerous.
Beyond the mansion gates...
The headlights of a sleek black armored SUV illuminated the driveway.
A man in a tailored suit stepped out immediately.
He walked straight toward Elena.
Not toward Andrew.
Not toward Eleanor.
Toward the woman everyone believed had just lost everything.
He bowed respectfully.
"Good evening..."
He opened the rear door.
May you like
"...Mrs. Veselova."
Andrew's smile disappeared.
