Chap 3

The ballroom was no longer a wedding venue.

It had become a crime scene.

Paramedics carefully cleaned the blood from Noah's forehead while Adrian refused to leave his son's side.

The little boy clung tightly to his father's hand.

"Dad..."

"Are we going home?"

Adrian smiled gently despite the fury burning inside him.

"Yes."

"But first..."

"We're going to make sure no one ever hurts you again."

Noah nodded quietly.

He trusted his father completely.

Across the ballroom...

Detectives questioned the guests one by one.

Nearly everyone had witnessed Evelyn shove the child.

Several guests had captured the assault from different angles on their phones.

One detective approached Adrian.

"Mr. Blackwood."

"We've already collected fourteen independent videos."

"The evidence is overwhelming."

Adrian simply nodded.

"I want every recording preserved."

"No one deletes anything."

"Yes, sir."

Evelyn suddenly stepped forward.

Her elegant image had completely fallen apart.

Her expensive makeup had begun running from panic.

"Mr. Blackwood..."

"I made a mistake."

"I didn't know he was your son."

Adrian slowly looked at her.

His voice was frighteningly calm.

"You still don't understand."

She blinked.

"What?"

"My son didn't deserve your violence because he's my son."

He took one slow step closer.

"He didn't deserve it because he's a child."

The words struck the room like thunder.

Several guests lowered their heads in shame.

Daniel Whitmore, the groom, hurried toward Adrian.

"Mr. Blackwood..."

"My mother acted alone."

"Our companies have worked together for years."

"I'm begging you..."

"Don't let this destroy our families."

Adrian finally looked at him.

"For years..."

"I respected your father."

"I respected your business."

"I accepted your invitation because I believed your family had honor."

He glanced toward Noah, whose forehead was now wrapped in white bandages.

"But tonight..."

"I learned your family values reputation more than humanity."

Daniel swallowed nervously.

"We can settle this privately."

Adrian's expression immediately hardened.

"A child was assaulted."

"You think this is about business?"

Just then...

A black-suited man entered the ballroom carrying a leather briefcase.

Everyone recognized him immediately.

Michael Grant.

Chief Legal Counsel for Blackwood International.

He walked directly to Adrian.

"The documents are ready."

Adrian accepted the folder without opening it.

Daniel frowned.

"What documents?"

Michael answered instead.

"Three months ago..."

"Blackwood International agreed to finance the Whitmore Group's largest real estate project."

Daniel's face suddenly changed.

"The Riverside Development?"

Michael nodded.

"A four-billion-dollar investment."

Several executives in the ballroom gasped.

Everyone knew the Whitmore family's future depended on that project.

Without Blackwood's funding...

The company couldn't complete construction.

Daniel looked desperately at Adrian.

"Please..."

"My employees had nothing to do with this."

Adrian slowly opened the folder.

Inside were investment contracts already bearing his signature.

He calmly removed a fountain pen.

Then...

In front of everyone...

He drew a single line across every agreement.

One after another.

The scratching sound of ink across paper echoed through the silent ballroom.

Daniel's heart sank.

"No..."

Adrian closed the folder.

"The partnership is terminated."

"Effective immediately."

The room erupted into whispers.

Investors looked at one another in disbelief.

Several board members quietly stepped away from the Whitmore family.

They knew exactly what this meant.

Banks would panic.

Stock prices would collapse.

Suppliers would withdraw.

The Whitmore empire had just lost the only investor capable of saving its expansion.

Daniel's legs weakened.

"You can't do this..."

Adrian looked directly into his eyes.

"No."

"You did this."

"You allowed cruelty to flourish inside your own family."

"And today..."

"Your silence became your decision."

A detective interrupted the conversation.

"Mr. Blackwood."

"The district attorney has approved felony child abuse charges."

He turned toward Evelyn.

"Mrs. Whitmore..."

"You're under arrest."

The elderly woman screamed.

"No!"

"This is my son's wedding!"

The detective replied firmly,

"No, ma'am."

"This is a criminal investigation."

Two officers stepped forward and placed handcuffs around her wrists.

The metallic click echoed through the ballroom.

Guests watched in stunned silence as the woman who had spent decades looking down on others was escorted away.

As she passed Noah, she whispered through tears,

"I'm sorry..."

The little boy looked at her quietly.

He didn't answer.

Instead, he reached for his father's hand.

Adrian held it tightly.

No amount of wealth could erase what had happened.

May you like

But from this moment on...

No one would ever make his son feel small again.
