Chap 1

The Lancaster Estate had been transformed into a palace of light.

Thousands of white roses covered the marble staircase.

A twelve-foot crystal chandelier shimmered above the ballroom.

A magnificent seven-tier wedding cake stood proudly in the center of the hall, surrounded by photographers and television crews documenting what many newspapers had already called the wedding of the year.

Business leaders.

Judges.

Celebrities.

Government officials.

Nearly every influential family in the city had gathered to witness the marriage between Daniel Whitmore and Charlotte Bennett.

Everything was meant to be flawless.

Everything...

Except for one small boy who wasn't supposed to be there.

Eight-year-old Noah quietly wandered near the dessert table.

His clothes were simple.

A faded white shirt.

Dark trousers slightly too short for his growing legs.

His shoes had clearly been repaired more than once.

He wasn't one of the guests.

His mother worked at the estate as a housekeeper and had been assigned to help prepare the reception since dawn.

Unable to leave her son alone at home, she had brought him with her and asked him to wait quietly until the celebration ended.

Noah obeyed.

He sat silently for hours.

Watching the music.

Watching people laugh.

Watching children dressed in expensive suits running through the ballroom.

He never complained.

When one of the pastry chefs smiled and handed him a small slice of leftover strawberry cake, Noah's eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Thank you, sir."

He carefully carried the tiny plate toward an empty corner, trying not to disturb anyone.

Across the ballroom...

Evelyn Whitmore, the groom's mother, noticed him.

Elegant in a glittering champagne-colored evening gown, diamonds draped across her neck and wrists, Evelyn had spent decades protecting the Whitmore family's reputation.

To her...

Appearances meant everything.

She watched the little boy with obvious disgust.

"Who allowed him inside?"

A nearby event coordinator answered nervously.

"Ma'am... he's one of the staff's children."

Evelyn's expression darkened.

"A servant's child..."

"...standing beside my wedding cake?"

Without another word, she marched across the ballroom.

Her high heels echoed sharply across the marble floor.

Guests instinctively stepped aside.

Noah looked up, confused.

"Ma'am?"

Before he could say another word...

Evelyn slapped the plate from his hands.

The cake crashed onto the polished floor.

"I'm sorry..."

Noah whispered immediately.

"I'll clean it."

Instead of answering...

Evelyn shoved him violently.

The little boy lost his balance.

His head struck the edge of the marble cake platform with a sickening crack.

The room gasped.

Blood immediately trickled down the side of his forehead.

Noah cried out in pain before collapsing beside the enormous wedding cake.

His small hands instinctively covered his face.

Tears mixed with blood as he sobbed helplessly.

"I'm sorry..."

"I didn't mean to..."

Evelyn looked down at him with complete indifference.

"You filthy child."

"You ruined the photographs."

One of the bridesmaids rushed forward.

"He needs a doctor!"

Evelyn held up one hand.

"No."

"He needs to learn his place."

At that exact moment...

The ballroom doors slowly opened.

A cold breeze swept through the hall.

Several security officers entered first.

Everyone turned.

Behind them walked a tall man in a perfectly tailored black tuxedo.

His expression was unreadable.

His presence alone silenced the entire ballroom.

Adrian Blackwood.

Founder and CEO of Blackwood International.

One of the youngest self-made billionaires in the country.

Very few people knew he had accepted the wedding invitation.

Even fewer knew...

Why.

He had been delayed after returning from an overseas business summit.

The moment he stepped inside...

His eyes immediately fell upon the bleeding child lying on the marble floor.

For one terrifying second...

He stopped breathing.

Then he recognized the boy.

"Noah..."

The little boy slowly looked up through tears.

"Dad..."

The single word echoed through the silent ballroom.

Every guest froze.

Evelyn's face lost all color.

Adrian rushed forward, dropping to his knees without hesitation.

He gently lifted the trembling child into his arms.

Blood stained the sleeve of his custom-made tuxedo.

He didn't care.

He carefully brushed Noah's hair away from the wound.

"Who did this to you?"

Noah pointed weakly toward Evelyn.

"She..."

"...said I didn't belong here."

Adrian slowly stood.

Still carrying his son.

His eyes locked onto Evelyn Whitmore.

His voice thundered through the ballroom.

"Who gave you the right to lay a hand on my son?"

Evelyn forced a laugh despite the fear spreading across her face.

"Don't ruin this wedding."

"He's just a maid's son."

Adrian's expression turned ice cold.

He held Noah closer against his chest.

Then, staring directly into Evelyn's terrified eyes, he spoke the sentence that shattered every illusion of power she had ever possessed.

May you like

"Liar."

"You just touched a child before whom your entire family should bow."
