Chapter 5 - The Videos They Forgot

Denise filmed everything.
That became their undoing.
She liked content.
Family dinners.
Pranks.
Arguments.
She stored automatically in cloud.
Police obtained warrant for specific categories tied alleged elder abuse and guardianship fraud.
The results were ugly.
April 11.
Kitchen.
I leave hearing aids beside coffee.
Denise’s hand enters frame.
Moves into drawer.
Twenty minutes later another video.
Me:
“I know I left them here.”
Michael:
“Mom, you keep doing this.”
Denise:
“Maybe we need talk doctor.”
I remembered feeling ashamed.
April 23.
My car keys.
Caleb takes from bowl.
Laughs.
Puts inside garage cabinet.
Later video:
I search purse.
Michael says:
“You drove yesterday? Are you sure?”
May 2.
Medication organizer.
Denise removes one vitamin and moves two pills to different day.
Not dangerous prescriptions? Better keep safe. She rearranged benign supplements and left medication untouched? Yet to make confusion. Let's say she photographed organizer after I filled, then later swapped labels/empty compartments but not actual medication? Hmm elder abuse can involve meds. Could be serious. Let's say she removed my labeled morning organizer entirely and replaced with spare arranged differently, not giving extra meds. Still dangerous. Prosecutor charged evidence of coercion, not poisoning.
Then Michael tells:
“You already took Thursday.”
I say:
“No.”
He says:
“Mom, it’s Friday.”
It was Thursday.
They recorded my confusion.
That was psychological abuse.
May 19.
Denise filming while Michael says:
“Mom agreed to North Crest.”
I respond:
“No.”
He:
“You did at dinner.”
“No.”
Denise zooms.
“See? She doesn’t remember.”
I had never agreed.
Then June.
Michael rehearsing with Denise.
“If she gets angry, don’t argue. Just keep recording.”
Denise:
“What if she catches?”
“Say family memories.”
Then Caleb:
“This is messed up.”
Interesting.
He knew.
But he laughed.
Then June 28.
Life ring.
Michael says to Caleb:
“Put that ugly thing away before weekend.”
Caleb:
“Why?”
“Your grandmother clings to it every time she goes dock. She needs to stop turning everything into medical emergency.”
Then Denise:
“Maybe we should make her get feet wet.”
Michael:
“She’ll scream.”
Denise laughs.
There.
Plan to provoke.
Then July 3 night.
Caleb:
“If she freaks, maybe she’ll sign papers just to prove she’s not crazy.”
Michael:
“Don’t do anything stupid.”
Caleb:
“Define stupid.”
Michael:
“No injuries. We need video, not ambulance.”
That line saved Michael from attempted murder conspiracy, perhaps, but implicated guardianship fraud/coercion.
He explicitly said no injury.
Caleb disobeyed.
Still Michael created danger.
Then Denise:
“Imagine her face if Caleb tosses her.”
Michael:
“No.”
Pause.
Then:
“Just scare her.”
So the shove was Caleb’s escalation.
He alone made physical choice.
Denise filmed and failed to aid.
Michael failed to aid and mocked.
Tyler followed.
Then prosecutor Nora told me:
“Evidence supports different levels of responsibility.”
I appreciated.
I did not want everybody sentenced like same.
Caleb’s push/kick worst.
Michael/Denise planned psychological coercion and guardianship manipulation, plus financial exploitation.
Tyler minor follower/witness.
Then my own anger.
I wanted them all gone.
All.
No contact.
No inheritance.
No company.
No family.
Allison asked:
“Do not change estate documents while furious.”
I snapped:
“They tried drown me.”
“Caleb did.”
“My son built this.”
“Yes.”
“Then why shouldn’t I?”
“You can. But make governance choices because they’re right, not because anger needs paper.”
I hated attorneys.
Then company review.
Forensic audit found Denise’s consulting firm billed $94,000 for events never held.
Some fake invoices.
Michael approved.
He said administrative oversight.
Emails:
Denise:
Can we bill marina rebrand now? We never finished.
Michael:
Yes. Mom will never notice.
That was financial fraud.
Then personal bank transfer.
Michael had used old limited banking authority from 2019 when James was ill.
It was supposed to expire.
Bank system still listed.
He attempted transfer despite no current authorization.
He knew.
Then my signature folder.
No forged transfer yet.
But draft.
Guardianship petition based false/misleading evidence.
This became prosecutor.
Then North Crest sale.
The intended profit to Michael?
No direct kickback found.
He genuinely believed sale good and wanted control.
Not everything greed.
But one side letter with Vale offered Michael future advisory role after transaction worth $250k/year.
Conflict undisclosed.
There.
Motivation.
Then board moved from suspension to termination for cause after independent review?
Not yet. Need due process.
They held hearing.
Michael admitted side role under discussion but not finalized.
Still conflict.
By unanimous independent vote, he was terminated as CEO for undisclosed conflicts, attempted unauthorized transactions, and conduct undermining fiduciary duties.
He remained shareholder 12%.
I did not confiscate.
His shares were his.
He lost job.
He called me first time through attorney.
“Mom, you destroyed my career.”
May you like
I laughed.
Then hung up.
