EVELYN:

Another:
R.V.:
Claire turns twenty five next month. Direct consent becomes mandatory.
EVELYN:
We have time.

You have less than you think.
This person knew my trust dates.
Mail status.
Portal access.
Consent rules.
Who had that information?
Northwest Harbor Fiduciary.
Michael’s law firm.
Hale Meridian family office.
Maybe others.
Then the trust administrator checked its records.
No employee initials R.V.
But one contractor:
Regency Vault Services.
RVS.
The Registrar might not be a person.
Could be shorthand for a service account.
We needed more.
Then another message.
R.V.:
Elena’s restriction is still active.
EVELYN:
Michael never implemented it.
R.V.:
Implementation is not required. Trigger is automatic.
Evelyn knew my mother’s restriction against her could activate.
She had been warned.
Then:
EVELYN:
Can Schedule B override?
R.V.:
Only if Claire dies before direct beneficiary acknowledgment.
My heart stopped.
Direct beneficiary acknowledgment.
Had I acknowledged?
No.
Because nobody told me.
My twenty fifth birthday notice.
Evan intercepted.
As long as I never formally acknowledged the trust, Schedule B remained available.
If I acknowledged, succession changed.

After acknowledgment, Evelyn was automatically removed from interim committee under Elena’s restriction.
So Evelyn had a window.

Then final exchange the day of attack.

Then you’re useless.
The Registrar may have been an information source, not conspirator.

We traced payments from Evelyn to an outside records consultant.
Company:
Vale Registry Solutions.
Owner:
Robert Vale.
Sixty one.
Retired trust operations specialist.
Initials R.V.
There.
Police interviewed him.
He cooperated.
He had once worked for Northwest Harbor.
Evelyn hired him to help interpret old Hale trust instruments.
Legitimate consulting at first.
Then she asked about my notice status.
He should not have accessed internal information.
He admitted using old contacts and publicly available tracking data.
Some improper.
Maybe unlawful.
But he denied knowing about violence.
Messages supported him.
He repeatedly warned:
No coercion.
Direct beneficiary verification required.
Do not use Schedule B to circumvent.
Then why keep working for Evelyn?
Money.
Seventy five thousand dollars in consulting fees.
He told himself he was interpreting documents.
Again.
People build disasters by narrowing their field of responsibility until only their invoice remains.
Then Robert Vale gave us one more thing.
“Evelyn was obsessed with an old document.”
“What document?”
“Elena’s North Star Agreement.”
I looked at Michael.
He went white.
“You knew?”
Michael whispered:
