At seventy-four, I had a minor accident.

I snapped.

I chose occupational driving assessment.
Passed with recommendations.
Avoid night highway driving if possible.

Fine.
I followed.
This mattered.
Autonomy does not mean refusing all limits.
It means participating in evidence-based decisions.
I realized Vanessa had made me defensive against help itself.
That was another injury.
Therapy helped separate:

Control imposed.
I began accepting groceries when hip pain flared.
