Chapter 15 - Jeffrey’s Interview
Jeffrey gave police a formal interview with counsel.
He admitted the affair.
Admitted Cynthia lived in our home.
Admitted he knew Noelle sometimes made Liam eat separately.
Denied understanding it as abuse.
Then the audio.
If your mother asks, you tell her you like eating down there.
He closed his eyes.
Why say it?
“Because Madeline would overreact.”
I stared later at the transcript.

Then:
“Did you know Liam disliked it?”

“Was he afraid?”

Then grabbing Liam.

He denied personally editing.

He suggested Cynthia or staff used it.
Then Blake Advisory.
He approved payments.
Believed services real.
Some were.
Most questionable.
Then Austin.
He admitted first DNA test excluded him.
Why submit second?
“I believed first was wrong.”

“No.”
Did he ask Cynthia about provider?
“No.”
Then:
“Why keep first report hidden?”
“I didn’t want my mother involved.”
Yet it was in archive accessible to Noelle.
Then divorce.
Why use Liam’s condition as leverage?
“I was trying to preserve stability.”
Whose?
No answer.
Then Detective Ellis asked:
“Did you love Liam?”
Jeffrey looked offended.
“Of course.”
“Then why tell him his mother might not come home if he misbehaved?”
He cried.
Finally.
“I was angry.”
“At Madeline?”
“Yes.”
“So you used Liam?”
Silence.
“Yes.”
That admission mattered more to me than any corporate document.
Then he said:
“I never wanted him hurt.”
I believed that.
He wanted obedience.
Silence.
Convenience.
A child can be harmed by adults who never wake up wanting to harm him.
Then prosecutors charged Jeffrey.
Child cruelty/endangerment.
Witness/coercion-related conduct tied to coaching Liam.
Financial conspiracy and forgery-related corporate offenses.
No kidnapping.
No attempted murder.
No fantasy.
Cynthia had already entered plea negotiations.
Noelle refused.
