Chapter 3

Keith had no idea Hannah knew everything.

That was his greatest weakness.

He underestimated her.

Again.

For weeks, Hannah continued acting like nothing had changed.

She cooked dinner.

She smiled.

She listened.

But inside, she was collecting every piece of evidence.

Every conversation.

Every suspicious message.

Every attempt to manipulate her.

One evening, Keith walked into the kitchen holding a document.

"Good news."

Hannah looked up.

"What is it?"

"I found a way to simplify the estate process."

She looked at the papers.

A power of attorney form.

Her stomach tightened.

"Why do I need to sign this?"

Keith smiled.

"Because I'm your husband."

"I should be able to help manage things."

Hannah looked at him.

The old Hannah would have trusted him.

The new Hannah saw exactly what it was.

Control.

She gently pushed the papers back.

"I'll have David review them first."

Keith's smile disappeared.

Only for a second.

But enough.

That night, Keith called Eleanor.

Hannah heard everything through the hidden recording device David advised her to use legally.

"She changed."

Eleanor sounded worried.

"She suspects something."

Keith sighed.

"Impossible."

"She's too emotional."

Hannah listened silently.

Then she heard the words that finally destroyed the last piece of love she had left.

"Once the house is transferred, we can get rid of her."

Silence.

Even though she expected it...

It still hurt.

Because this wasn't just greed anymore.

They wanted her gone.

David reviewed everything.

"Now we have enough."

Hannah looked at him.

"What happens next?"

He smiled slightly.

"Now they discover the difference between owning something..."

"And pretending to own something."

The confrontation happened at the family dinner table.

Eleanor arrived confident.

Keith arrived smiling.

They thought this was the night Hannah would finally surrender.

Instead...

Hannah placed a folder on the table.

"What is this?" Keith asked.

She opened it.

"The original deed."

Keith's smile faded.

"The house belongs to me."

"No."

Hannah calmly looked at him.

"The house belongs to my father's estate."

"And my name is the only name authorized."

Eleanor's face changed.

Keith stood.

"You don't understand."

"No."

Hannah looked directly at him.

"I understand everything."

The room became silent.

She played the recording.

Their own voices filled the room.

Keith's confidence vanished.

Eleanor's face turned pale.

"You recorded us?"

Hannah shook her head.

"No."

"You exposed yourselves."

For the first time...

Keith looked afraid.

Because he finally realized.

The woman he thought was powerless had been preparing while he was celebrating.

To be continued... Chapter 4 will reveal the final move Hannah makes—and the shocking consequence Keith never saw coming.
