Chapter 13 - Blake’s Plea
Blake pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, leaving the scene-related felony available under prosecution theory, conspiracy to conceal June’s identity, evidence tampering, and obstruction.
One child-abduction count was reduced under plea due complicated biological-parent status at time and limitations.

Then:
“Did you remove infant Olivia Vale?”
“Yes.”
“Was Megan conscious to consent?”
“No.”
“Had you been legally established as father?”
“No.”
“Did you take infant to law enforcement?”
“No.”
“What did you do?”
“Called my father.”
Then:
“Did you later agree to conceal child under Ethan and Rebecca Carter’s records?”
“Yes.”
“Did Ethan know?”
“No.”
“Rebecca?”
“No.”
“Did you know June Carter was Olivia?”
“Yes.”
“Did you believe she was your biological daughter?”
“Yes.”
“Did you disclose?”
“No.”
Then judge:
“Why did you assault her at tenth birthday?”
That charge had not produced major criminal case due old local incident? It was documented. Could be considered sentencing conduct.
Blake cried.
“She looked like Megan.”

“I hated Ethan for being her father.”

Then victim statements.
Anna:
“My sister died alone on roadside while the man who fathered her child drove away carrying that child.”
June did not attend.
She submitted:
“My name is June Olivia Carter. I am not asking you to punish Blake because he is my biological father. I am asking you to sentence what he did to Megan, Grace, Rebecca, Ethan, and me.”
Then:
“He had fifteen years to tell truth.”
Then:
“I do not owe him relationship because his DNA appears in mine.”
Strong.
Then mine:
“I spent years angry Blake received everything first.”
I looked at Richard behind.
“Now I understand what he received most was protection from consequences.”
Then:
“That protection did not save him. It made his worst decision last fifteen years.”
No max request.
Judge sentenced.
Blake cried.
Then as marshals led away, he looked at me.
No words.

Then Richard and Helen.

Helen:

Then Richard’s statement.
“I thought protecting Blake meant protecting family.”
June read.
Then:
“I sacrificed Ethan’s family to do it.”
Finally.
Helen:
“I saw one dead baby and one motherless baby and told myself I could solve both.”
Then:
“I was wrong to treat grief like logistics.”
That line stayed.
Then:
“I loved June.”
June scoffed.
Maybe true.
Love without consent and protection still harmful.
Then prison.
No inheritance drama mattered.
Richard’s will remained.

Anna:

June said:
“I have two moms and a dead sister I never met.”
“Yeah.”
“That is ridiculous.”

Then:
“And you.”
“Unfortunately.”
She smiled.
The golden son went to prison.
