Chap 5

Six months later...
The auditorium looked completely different.
A new Festival Youth Podcast was about to begin.
This time...
Emily Brooks stood behind the podium.
Not as a victim.
But as the keynote student speaker.
The audience rose to their feet in applause.
She smiled nervously before beginning.
"There was a time when I believed telling the truth wasn't enough."
"I was wrong."
"The truth only needs one brave person willing to stand beside it."
In the front row...
Richard Hayes quietly applauded.

He had resigned as chairman of the Festival Youth Foundation shortly after the scandal.
Instead, he created an independent anti-bullying scholarship in Emily's name.
Every year, it would support students who showed courage, kindness, and integrity.
After the ceremony, reporters surrounded Richard.
One asked,
"Mr. Hayes..."
"Was it difficult exposing your own daughter?"
Richard looked toward the empty seat where Chloe once would have sat.
His expression remained calm.
"The hardest decision a parent can make..."
"...is choosing justice over pride."
He paused.
"If I had protected her..."
"I wouldn't have been saving my daughter."
"I would have been destroying her."
He looked directly into the nearest camera.
His final words spread across the nation.
"Love without accountability isn't love."
"It's permission."
"And the moment I saw an innocent child covered in tears because of my own daughter..."
"I knew what had to be done."
He lowered his head for a brief moment.
Then repeated the sentence that had changed countless lives.
"Tonight, I strip you of everything."
Not because he hated his daughter.

But because he hoped that, after losing everything built on lies...
She might finally learn how to build a life based on truth.
