Chapter 2 - The Camera Never LiedThe entire foyer gathered around the large CCTV monitor in the security office.

Black and white footage filled the screen.

A red timestamp glowed in the corner.

Daniel folded his arms.

“Play it.”

The recording began twenty minutes earlier.

Emily appeared first.

She set her handbag beside the marble column before helping another employee carry flower arrangements toward the ballroom.

She disappeared from the camera.

The handbag remained untouched.

For almost thirty seconds.

Then Vanessa entered the frame.

She glanced around carefully.

Believing no one was watching, she removed the diamond necklace from around her own neck.

She quietly unzipped Emily’s handbag.

Placed the necklace inside.

Closed the zipper.

Smoothed her dress.

Then calmly walked away.

The room became completely silent.

One elderly guest whispered,

“Wait... that's Vanessa.”

Margaret stared at the screen.

Her lips trembled.

“No...”

Daniel replayed the footage.

Again.

And again.

Each viewing made the truth even clearer.

Vanessa stepped backward.

“I... I can explain.”

Daniel slowly turned toward her.

“You framed her.”

Vanessa forced a laugh.

“It looks worse than it is.”

“It looks exactly like what you did.”

Emily stood frozen.

She had imagined many endings.

None included absolute proof of her innocence.

Guests who had glared at her moments earlier now refused to meet her eyes.

One woman quietly said,

“My God... we believed her.”

Daniel looked toward Emily.

Then toward the red mark still visible on her cheek.

His voice became dangerously calm.

“She struck you.”

Emily nodded silently.

Vanessa panicked.

“She embarrassed our family!”

“She did nothing.”

“She was standing there!”

“She was working.”

Margaret slowly removed her pearl necklace.

“How could you do this?”

Vanessa looked desperately around the room.

“No one understands.”

Daniel stepped closer.

“No.”

“We understand perfectly.”

“You tried to destroy an innocent woman.”

Emily quietly lowered her eyes.

Being proven innocent did not erase the humiliation.

The slap still burned.

The accusing stares still echoed in her mind.

The trust she thought she had earned had vanished before anyone asked a single question.

Daniel looked toward security.

“No one leaves.”

Then he turned back toward Vanessa.

May you like

“You're going to explain everything.”

Continue to the next part: Vanessa will reveal why she targeted Emily, but her confession will expose a family secret even Daniel never knew.
