Chapter 3

The mansion was locked down before sunrise.

No one was allowed to leave.

Security searched every hallway.

Every office.

Every bedroom.

But the missing medicine bottle had vanished.

Marcus stood inside Alexander's private study reviewing security footage.

Nina sat quietly nearby.

She couldn't stop thinking about one thing.

Whoever entered the bedroom during the blackout knew exactly what they were looking for.

Hours later...

A security officer rushed inside.

"Mr. Hale."

"We found something."

It was a financial file.

Hidden inside the house manager's office.

Marcus opened it.

His eyes narrowed.

Life insurance documents.

Property transfer agreements.

Emergency succession papers.

All prepared three days earlier.

Before Alexander's condition became critical.

Nina looked confused.

"Why would someone prepare those already?"

Marcus answered without looking up.

"Because someone expected him to die."

The room became silent.

Just then...

Alexander slowly opened his eyes.

The fever had finally begun to break.

His breathing became steadier.

"Nina..."

She hurried to his bedside.

"I'm here."

Alexander looked at Marcus.

His voice was weak.

"The safe..."

Marcus frowned.

"What safe?"

"My father's office."

"The black ledger."

Marcus understood immediately.

Within minutes they opened the hidden safe behind an old painting.

Inside was a leather-bound ledger.

Every payment.

Every betrayal.

Every secret business partner.

One name appeared over and over again.

House Manager...

Thomas Reed.

Marcus slowly closed the book.

"So it was him."

Before anyone could react...

A gunshot echoed downstairs.

Security shouted.

"Stop him!"

May you like

Thomas was running.

He knew the truth had finally caught up with him.
