Chapter 11 - The Mansion Changes Hands

Calder Ridge took possession after court process.
Brandon and Amber were out.
No mob.
No cartel.
No SWAT.
A property representative walked room by room with contractor.
They planned demolition after zoning approval.
I asked to visit once.
David said:
“Why?”
“I don’t know.”
I went.
The mansion looked smaller empty.
Furniture gone.
Nail holes.
Dust squares where art hung.
In dining room, I saw faint discoloration on oak from the night I bled.
Probably imagination.
I stood where Brandon hit me.
Nothing happened.
No cinematic revelation.
Just room.
Calder Ridge representative, Thomas Glenn, carried sale documents.
He said:
“We should be out in twenty minutes.”
I nodded.
On the way out, I found the antique mirror they said missing.
Wrapped in blanket in garage.
Likely movers forgot.
I called.
Their damage claim reduced.
Even now, fairness mattered.
I did not want a dollar they did not owe.
Thomas asked:
“You sure you don’t want salvage anything?”
“No.”
Then I saw the dining table.
Antique walnut.
Amber had slammed my head? In prompt yes, but our actual story he punched, no head slam. It was still table around assault.
I said:
“Donate it.”
“To?”
“Habitat ReStore.”
He shrugged.
“Done.”
House was demolished three months later.
I did not watch.
A friend sent video.

The mansion was never the point.
