Chapter 23 - Mark’s New Life

Mark remarried six years after our divorce.

Her name was Hannah.

I met her once before wedding.

She was kind.

He called:

“I want you to hear from me so you don’t hear through Susan.”

“Congratulations.”

“Thanks.”

“Kelsey attending?”

“Yes.”

“How’s that going?”

He laughed.

“She has opinions.”

“Does she get to choose anything?”

“No.”

We both laughed.

That was growth.

He told me Hannah had one boundary before engagement:

“No family loans without both partners agreeing.”

I laughed harder.

“Smart woman.”

“I learned.”

Good.

I did not attend wedding.

No reason.

Sent card.

Not wooden box.

A real card.

Wishing them well.

Kelsey coordinated? No, to avoid old dynamic maybe they hired different planner. She attended as guest.

I heard nothing went wrong.

Good.

The old family system did not have to repeat.
