“Why tell?”

“What stopped?”
“The money wasn’t mine.”

“Thomas felt opposite.”
“Yes.”
“He thought future possibility was ownership.”
“Yes.”
Then:
“Did great-grandpa do bad planning?”
I thought.
“Complicated planning. Better independent trustee than family fight, but ambiguity from old settlement caused trouble.”
Then:
“Would you create same?”
“No.”
Good.
I eventually created straightforward estate:
Charities.
Some to extended family.
Employee foundation.
No secret conditions.
Then Richard died? He retired, maybe at 79. Natural. We can later.
Then Harbor State periodically diversified trust’s Whitmore stake, selling some shares at independent value under trust terms.

Whitmore stake down from 18% to 10%.
Cash diversified.
Trust value around $16m.
Why more? Company growth.
No one panicked.
