Claire refused to take the paternity test immediately.
Grant expected her to react in panic.
She would not allow his timetable to control another decision.
Instead, Rachel ordered independent testing of the handwriting, paper, ink, and genetic sample.
Arthur provided a voluntary DNA sample without being asked.
“I have never doubted you were my daughter,” he said.
“You doubted whether I was Mom’s.”
“I doubted the hospital record.”
“But not your own paternity?”
“No.”
Claire looked at him.
“Should you have?”
Arthur stared toward the mausoleum desk.
“Your mother and I separated briefly before you were born.”
He had never told Claire.
During that period, Eleanor worked closely with Martin Hale to uncover William Whitmore’s fraud.
Arthur suspected they had become emotionally involved.
Eleanor denied a physical relationship.
They reconciled after she announced the pregnancy.
Arthur chose not to ask for proof.
“I loved you before you were born,” he said.
“That does not answer the question.”
“No.”

Construction sites remained open under temporary management, preventing the mass layoffs he threatened.
Claire addressed employees through a live broadcast.
“I will not punish workers for crimes committed above them. Payroll remains protected. Projects with legal funding continue. Every other account will be examined.”
Her bruised face remained visible.
She did not hide it.
Grant released another video accusing her of using domestic allegations to steal his company.
The public reaction changed when the driveway footage became part of the police record.
Investors stopped calling it a marital dispute.
They called it evidence.
Grant disappeared with Martin.
His phone moved between several construction properties before going dark.
Vanessa revealed one final location.
An underground parking structure beneath the unfinished Vance Whitmore Civic Center.
The seven hundred million dollar project connected to Claire’s forged guarantee.
Police found Martin there inside a locked office.
He was injured but alive.
Grant had already escaped.
At the hospital, Martin requested to speak with Claire and Arthur alone.
“I forged the guarantee,” he admitted.
“Why?” Claire asked.
“Grant had evidence I moved Restoration Fund money.”
“Did you steal it?”
“No. Eleanor ordered me to relocate portions before William Whitmore could seize them.”
“Why disappear?”
“Arthur believed I betrayed him.”
Arthur looked away.
Martin continued.
“Eleanor asked me to remain hidden because the fund had another purpose.”
“What purpose?”
“To identify who continued William’s network after his death.”
Grant had not created the current fraud alone.
Someone inside Vance Strategic Holdings provided him with trust data, biometric records, and access to Eleanor’s archives.
Martin pretended to cooperate with Grant to trace that person.
“Who is E?” Claire asked.
Martin’s eyes moved toward Arthur.
“Eleanor.”
Arthur stepped forward.
“She died.”
“I believed that too.”
Six months earlier, Martin received a live call from her private code.
The woman knew details only Eleanor, Arthur, and Martin shared.
She directed him to help Grant access file six while secretly preserving evidence.
“Did you see her?”
“Once. At the mausoleum.”
“Her face?”
“She wore a veil.”
“Then you do not know it was her.”
Martin nodded.
“No.”
He gave Claire the communication device.
One unread message waited.
ARTHUR’S SAMPLE WILL MATCH. THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM INNOCENT.
The paternity result arrived minutes later.
Arthur was Claire’s biological father.
Claire looked at him.
Grant’s attempt to remove her legal inheritance had failed completely.
Then Rachel opened a second laboratory report.
Arthur’s DNA matched another sample stored inside file seven.
The unidentified sample came from evidence collected after William Whitmore’s death.
