Chapter 4

Leon Graves believed he had escaped.

His private jet waited on the runway.

Its engines were already running.

Two luxury suitcases filled with cash and confidential company files had been loaded into the cabin.

He smiled as he adjusted his expensive watch.

"By sunrise..."

"I'll be in Switzerland."

"The Ashford Empire will collapse without even knowing what happened."

He reached for the aircraft stairs.

A deafening voice echoed across the airport.

"Going somewhere?"

Leon froze.

He slowly turned around.

More than twenty police vehicles surrounded the hangar.

Armed tactical officers stepped out one by one.

Black SUVs blocked every exit.

Then...

Marcus Ashford emerged from the lead vehicle.

Still wearing the same black tuxedo from the gala.

Only now...

There were traces of dried blood on the sleeve where he had held his injured wife.

His expression was colder than the winter night.

Leon forced an awkward smile.

"Marcus..."

"This isn't what it looks like."

Marcus didn't answer.

He simply nodded once toward his Head of Security.

The security chief opened a briefcase.

Inside were dozens of financial records.

Wire transfers.

Secret contracts.

Encrypted emails.

Every piece of evidence Leon believed had been erased.

Marcus spoke quietly.

"You paid Isabella."

Leon remained silent.

"You promised her fifty million dollars."

Silence.

"You told her my child had to die."

Leon finally laughed.

"So..."

"You figured it out."

Marcus looked directly into his eyes.

"I figured out something else."

Leon frowned.

"What?"

Marcus slowly pulled another document from the briefcase.

"The board voted one hour ago."

"You've been removed as Executive Vice President."

Leon shrugged.

"So what?"

Marcus smiled faintly.

"Read the last page."

Leon opened the document.

His confident expression disappeared.

Every share he owned in Ashford Global had been frozen under an emergency fraud investigation.

Every executive benefit had been revoked.

Every offshore account connected to him had been seized by court order.

Even his private jet...

Had been impounded.

Leon looked up in disbelief.

"You..."

"...can't do this."

Marcus answered calmly.

"I already did."

The lead detective stepped forward.

"Leon Graves."

"You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder..."

"Attempted corporate fraud..."

"Money laundering..."

"Bribery..."

"And attempted homicide of an unborn child."

Handcuffs clicked around Leon's wrists.

For the first time in twenty years...

The brilliant executive looked afraid.

He stared desperately at Marcus.

"I helped build your empire!"

Marcus nodded once.

"You did."

"And I treated you like family."

Leon lowered his head.

"I made one mistake."

Marcus immediately corrected him.

"No."

"You made a choice."

"You chose greed over loyalty."

"You chose power over friendship."

"And you chose to murder my child."

Marcus took one final step forward.

His voice was barely above a whisper.

Yet everyone heard every word.

"You didn't betray a company."

"You betrayed your brother."

As officers led Leon toward the police vehicle...

Television crews rushed through the airport gates.

Every major news network broadcast the arrest live.

Within minutes...

Ashford Global released an official statement.

Leon Graves had acted alone with outside accomplices.

The company would fully cooperate with law enforcement.

Markets opened the following morning.

Ashford Global's stock recovered.

Investors praised Marcus for exposing corruption instead of hiding it.

Meanwhile...

Every company connected to Leon declared bankruptcy within weeks.

His luxury homes were confiscated.

His bank accounts were frozen.

His awards were revoked.

His name disappeared from every corporate board where he had once been celebrated.

He had spent twenty-five years building a reputation.

He lost it in a single night.

That evening...

Marcus returned to the hospital.

Sophia was finally awake.

She smiled weakly as he entered the room.

"You caught them?"

Marcus sat beside her and gently held her hand.

"Every one of them."

Sophia placed his hand over her stomach.

At that exact moment...

Their baby kicked.

Marcus laughed through tears.

The tiny movement reminded him why he had fought so hard.

Sophia smiled.

"What happens now?"

Marcus leaned forward and kissed her forehead.

"Now..."

"We go home."

"We raise our child."

"And we never let darkness into our family again."

Outside the hospital window...

The first rays of sunrise lit the city.

Marcus looked toward the horizon.

Then quietly repeated the promise that had changed everything.

"Anyone who threatens my family..."

May you like

"...will lose everything."

"Tonight, I stripped them of everything."
