Chapter 2

The ballroom remained frozen.

Nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

All eyes were on the folder sitting on the wedding table.

A simple folder.

But to Ethan...

It felt heavier than anything he had ever held.

Olivia looked at him.

"Ethan."

Her voice was quieter now.

"What is inside that?"

He didn't answer.

Because he already knew.

Claire watched him carefully.

She remembered this moment.

She had imagined it hundreds of times.

But she never imagined feeling so calm.

Because revenge was not what brought her there.

Truth was.

William stood beside her.

His presence alone changed the atmosphere.

Everyone knew who he was.

Everyone knew his influence.

But what surprised them most...

Was the way he looked at Claire.

Not like a billionaire protecting someone.

Like a husband protecting the woman he loved.

Ethan noticed.

And for the first time...

He felt something he hadn't expected.

Jealousy.

"You married him?"

Ethan finally asked.

Claire looked at William.

Then smiled.

"Yes."

The answer was simple.

But it hurt him.

Because Ethan remembered the woman he left.

The woman who cried for weeks.

The woman who begged him to reconsider.

The woman he believed would never find anyone else.

He was wrong.

Claire opened the folder.

"The first document is my medical report."

Everyone watched.

"Five years ago, after Ethan left me..."

She looked at him.

"I discovered I was pregnant."

A wave of shock moved through the room.

Olivia covered her mouth.

Guests whispered.

Ethan stepped back.

"No."

Claire continued.

"I tried to tell you."

"You blocked my number."

His face changed.

Because that was true.

He had convinced himself Claire was trying to manipulate him.

He had ignored every message.

Every call.

Every attempt she made.

"I thought you were trying to ruin my new life."

Claire said.

"So I stopped trying."

Silence.

"The doctors also discovered something else."

She touched the children's shoulders.

"All three of them were healthy."

"Beautiful."

"Perfect."

Her voice became colder.

"You didn't leave because I couldn't give you children."

"You left because you wanted an excuse."

Ethan had no response.

Olivia looked devastated.

"You lied to me."

Ethan turned toward her.

"Olivia, please..."

"No."

She stepped away.

"You told me your ex-wife couldn't have children."

"You told me you were the victim."

Claire looked at Olivia.

For a moment, she felt sorry for her.

Because Olivia was experiencing the same thing Claire once experienced.

Trusting someone who didn't deserve it.

William gently placed his hand on Claire's shoulder.

"You don't have to continue."

Claire shook her head.

"No."

"I waited too long for this."

She pulled out another document.

A legal statement.

"This proves Ethan publicly damaged my reputation."

She looked around.

"He told people I was unable to have children."

"He used that lie to justify leaving me."

The guests looked uncomfortable.

Because now they remembered.

They had believed him.

Ethan's father lowered his head.

His family had built their reputation around Ethan's perfect image.

And now...

Everyone could see the truth.

Claire closed the folder.

"But that's not the only reason I'm here."

Ethan looked up.

"What else?"

Claire looked at William.

Then at her children.

Then back at Ethan.

"I'm here because you deserve to know something."

A pause.

"Those children you abandoned..."

"They are not the only thing you lost."

Ethan frowned.

"What does that mean?"

Claire smiled slightly.

"You lost the woman who loved you."

"And you lost the chance to know the family you could have had."

The words hit him harder than any accusation.

But then Claire placed one more document on the table.

A business contract.

Ethan recognized the logo.

His company.

His expression changed.

"What is that?"

May you like

Claire looked at him.

"The reason I stayed silent."
