The second page had been hidden behind the voting directive.
It carried my copied signature beneath a declaration naming Patricia Bennett as Noah’s emergency guardian.
If I died or became permanently incapacitated, Patricia would control his personal trust until he turned twenty five.
Jason would manage the company shares.
Mother and son would divide my life.
Naomi placed the forged page inside a clear evidence sleeve.
“Your father’s valid trust names me and an independent child advocate as temporary trustees,” she said. “Jason and Patricia have no automatic authority.”
“Did they know that?”
“They knew the public structure. They did not possess the sealed amendment.”
That explained why the forged documents were legally clumsy.
They planned around rules they had only partially seen.
“Why would Grant believe the board would accept them?”
“Because emergency control does not require permanent validity. It requires enough confusion to postpone the audit and move money before anyone challenges the transfer.”
The conspiracy did not need to survive years.
Only one weekend.
Grant’s payment network would disappear by Monday morning.

My father had left dozens of financial records, handwritten notes, and instructions for Naomi.
One folder carried Jason’s surname.

Inside was a photograph of my father beside a man with Jason’s eyes.
Thomas Bennett.
Jason had told me his father died when he was twelve.
Patricia claimed Thomas abandoned the family after years of addiction and was later killed in a highway accident.
My father’s note contradicted that story.

Grant had not chosen Jason randomly.
