Westbridge existed fifteen years earlier.
Medical equipment distributor.
Daniel worked there as regional sales manager.
Company closed after a billing investigation.
Was Daniel charged?
No.
Public records showed company paid a civil settlement over improper Medicare billing.
Several executives barred from federal programs.
Daniel was not named publicly.
But Dad had found something.

Hart Electrical had done warehouse work for Westbridge.
Thomas Hart knew employees.

Daniel,
I know you were not one of the executives charged, but I also know you used patient referral data to build side sales.
If you marry Diane, you stay away from Maya’s disability benefits, her trust, and Claire’s military status.
If you cannot agree, stay away from my family.

Dad had seen Daniel’s pattern before us.
Using other people’s status as business opportunity.
Then did Mom know about letter?
“No.”
Daniel never showed.
Why keep it?

Daniel had not been charged because he cooperated in civil inquiry.

Do not turn into murder.
But after Dad died, obstacle gone.

Thomas to Michael:
If Diane marries Daniel, you stay on Maya’s trust precisely because I do not trust him.
Michael had been appointed as safeguard.
Instead he became facilitator.
He broke Dad’s core instruction.
That devastated him.
Not redemption.
Just consequence.
Then Westbridge civil files included a confidential compliance list.
Daniel had been flagged as:

So no hidden conviction.

Veteran rehab referrals are gold if you can package the whole home.
Language.
Same thinking.
Then Sentinel later did exactly that.
Then another file.
Daniel had used Westbridge contact list to identify early Sentinel clients.
Some personal data may have been improperly retained for over a decade.
That could explain veteran spreadsheet.
Not all came from VHAN.
Some were legacy stolen data.
Then one veteran on list had died years before Sentinel formed.
Yet Sentinel used him as reference project.
That was blatant.
Who prepared?
Daniel.
Direct.
Then federal investigators seized relevant company servers under legal authority. We don't need details.
Sentinel ceased new operations temporarily while a court appointed manager evaluated ongoing obligations.
Employees remained paid through restricted accounts for now.
Then Daniel’s assault case moved forward.
He entered not guilty plea.
No final outcome.
Maya did not need to attend first procedural hearing.
Good.
Then Dad’s encrypted file had one more document.
An unsigned trust amendment.
It would have removed Diane as Maya’s trustee upon marriage to Daniel.
Why unsigned?
Dad died before execution.
If he had survived one more week maybe structures different.
Then handwritten note:
Claire should serve only if she wants it. Maya must never be forced to depend on Claire’s career.
I cried then.
Quietly.
Dad understood.
Protecting Maya did not mean making me her permanent guardian.
Then Maya looked at the page.
“He trusted me eventually.”
“Yes.”
Then investigator found something taped inside the back of Dad’s scanned file.
A bank routing number.
Account:
MAYA INDEPENDENCE FUND.
I looked at Mom.
She had never heard of it.
Michael had never heard of it.
It was not in estate inventory.
