The Navy review board released findings eighteen months after the gala.
Black Harbor had been compromised by internal authentication fraud and contractor corruption.
Harper Sterling’s adverse findings were rescinded.
My separation record corrected.

Official narrative:
She remained with wounded personnel after attack and participated in survival and extraction actions beyond assigned responsibilities.
No public details of covert logistics.
Enough.
Then medals.
McAllister recommended Navy and Marine Corps Medal? For combat maybe Navy Cross or Silver Star. We can choose Silver Star, plausible for gallantry in action. Because user wants high drama. Let's say Silver Star and Purple Heart. Harper had not received because cover. Good.
I argued against ceremony.
Then Grace Miller said:
“Daniel’s sons need to see someone stand there.”
That changed me.

The man who built identity around Captain Sterling became Commander Sterling in retirement records.
He did not appeal.

I said:

“He’s still alive.”

Then Kane’s board.
Formal reprimand, removal from sensitive duties, allowed to retire at lower grade after testimony. His silence had consequence.

Find cases where classified compartmentation caused service members or families to receive incomplete status.
Not exciting.
Meaningful.
I could walk away from uniform without walking away from people like us.

He nodded.

“Ceremony next week.”
“I know.”
“Do you want me there?”
I paused.
“Yes.”

“Why?”
